Computational Postdoc
Computational postdoc in the Lindeboom lab to study context-dependent protein interactions
The Lindeboom lab is looking for a talented and motivated ERC-funded computational postdoc who is interested in understanding protein-protein and protein-DNA interactions through the modeling of large-scale genomics and proteomics datasets.
Our lab provides a fresh and vibrant research environment where we integrate state-of-the-art proteomics and genomics technologies with advanced data analysis workflows. We apply these approaches to study gene regulation and to characterize interactions between cancer cells and immune cells.
A central theme in our lab is the absolute quantification of protein abundances and interaction strengths. These quantitative measurements make our datasets ideally suited for predictive modeling of how immune cells interact with diseased cancer cells. What will you do?
Your project will involve integrating quantitative NGS-based genomics datasets with mass spectrometry-based proteomics datasets to analyze and model dose- and context-dependent protein binding to DNA, chromatin, and proteins involved in cell-cell interactions.
The aim is to understand how protein binding affinities are regulated by their proteomic environment. Our state-of-the-art and unique technologies enable us to ask this question both in the context of transcription factor binding to the chromatinized genome and in the context of protein-protein interactions that mediate immune-tumor cell interactions. Although the role is primarily computational, there is flexibility to become involved in experimental work and generate data yourself, depending on your interests and expertise.
Why the Netherlands Cancer Institute?
At the Netherlands Cancer Institute, we have a shared goal: providing the best care for every patient and every type of cancer. Quite a lot, but not impossible. Here, science and health care join forces towards innovation. We keep finding new ways to help people facing cancer on a global scale. Here we save lives, gain time and quality.
Wat breng je mee?
We are looking for an intelligent, enthusiastic, and highly motivated postdoc with an affinity for protein interactions and data science. Good communication skills and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team are essential. For this role, you should have:
A PhD degree in biomedical sciences with a solid background in computational biology;
Experience with predictive modeling, machine learning, AI, and/or quantitative data analysis;
Experience with genomics data analysis, protein structure data analysis, or preferably both;
A strong interest in protein interactions, gene regulation, and/or cancer immunology;
Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate in a multidisciplinary research environment.
