About the job
The laboratory of Michiel Vermeulen is seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated research technician to contribute to the development of interaction proteomics workflows aimed at improving cancer (immuno)therapy in colorectal cancer. This project will be carried out in close collaboration with industry partners and the Voest/van de Haar laboratory at the Netherlands Cancer Institute.
The position is embedded within a highly collaborative research environment and offers hands-on exposure to state-of-the-art (functional) genomics and proteomics technologies, as well as advanced tumor organoid culturing methods.
Your role
You will implement targeted cell surface interaction proteomics approaches to cancer cell lines and (cancer) organoids. The project involves mammalian cell culture, organoid culture, CRISPR-based genome engineering, proximity biotinylation technology and sample preparation for mass spectrometry-based proteomics experiments. You will also support scientific personnel in the lab with routine laboratory tasks and experiments and be partially responsible for the general organization of the lab.

What can you bring to the job?
We seek an enthusiastic, highly motivated, collaborative and proactive technician with a strong background in molecular biology. Furthermore you have/are:
Minimum of a completed Bachelor’s degree;
Experience with proteomics and cell and organoid culture are advantageous but no strict requirements;
Good command of English.
Your development opportunities and employment conditions
The basis for your employment conditions is in accordance with the CLA Hospitals. You will receive from us:
A year's contract for 36 hours per week, with the possibility of an extension;
A gross monthly salary between € 3.164,- and € 4.261,-, based on a 36-hour working week, in line with FWG45 and depending on your experience;
144 holiday hours and 57 hours of Personal Life Budget, with full-time employment;
Annual holiday pay of 8.33% and a fixed end-of-year bonus of 8.33%;
A travel allowance of €0.23 per km;
Free parking at the Netherlands Cancer Institute. And with our bicycle plan and discount on public transport we also make it attractive for you to leave the car at home;

The research group of Michiel Vermeulen focusses on the development and application of (interaction)proteomics techniques to gain more insight in the molecular mechanisms underlying the development and progression of cancer, with a special interest in colorectal cancer.
