How can meters of DNA fit in a small nucleus? Which proteins fold the DNA? And how are these proteins regulated? Are you interested in these questions and do you want to dive into the nucleus of a cell? Then we are looking for you as our new Research Technician!

As a Research Technician, your interests lies in fundamental research. You will be working in the division of Cell Biology, in the group of Benjamin Rowland. The research will focus on chromosome biology, specifically on the proteins that are involved in genome organization, and on their regulation. You will become part of the team and will be responsible for a part of a research line!

What will you do?

Together with your colleagues you will design and perform experiments, and you will discuss the results. The experiments will mostly involve biochemistry or cell biology, and may include genomics-based methodologies such as Hi-C and ChIP-seq. Besides experimental tasks, you will be involved in the ordering of reagents, and in the maintenance of equipment.

Wat breng je mee?

We are looking for an enthusiastic person, who is eager to learn and is willing to take on this challenge with us. Furthermore you have/are:

  • A Bachelor’s (HLO), Master’s, or PhD degree in Life Sciences or Biomedical Sciences;

  • Hands-on experience with cell culture, PCR, NGS, microscopy, and/or cloning techniques;

  • Good command of English;

  • A true team player with good collaboration skills.

Your development opportunities and employment conditions

The basis for your employment conditions is in accordance with the CLA Hospitals. You will receive from us:

  • A year's contract for 36 hours per week;

  • A gross monthly salary between € 3.102,- and € 4.177,-, based on a 36-hour working week, in line with FWG45, depending on your experience;

  • 144 holiday hours and 57 hours of Personal Life Budget, with full-time employment;

  • Annual holiday pay of 8.33% and a fixed end-of-year bonus of 8.33%;

  • A travel allowance of €0.23 per km;

  • Free parking at the Netherlands Cancer Institute. And with our bicycle plan and discount on public transport we also make it attractive for you to leave the car at home;
