Research Technician (Proteomics Facility)

We are seeking a Research Technician to join the Proteomics Facility of the Netherlands Cancer Institute. The Proteomics Facility supports a wide range of cancer research projects using advanced mass spectrometry and proteomics technologies and specializes in technologies to characterize proteins and post-translational modifications in cancer cells and tissues. Current projects running within the facility include collaborations with various research groups aiming to uncover the molecular mechanisms underlying cancer initiation and progression, therapy resistance, and immune-oncology.

As a Research Technician for the Proteomics Facilty you will be:

  • Responsible for performing various sample preparation workflows to analyze (phospho)proteomes;

  • Trained in operating and maintaining state of the art hybrid mass spectrometers (Exploris 480 and Orbitrap Astral, both from Thermo);

  • Performing routine quality control and troubleshooting tasks;

  • Supporting scientific staff by implementing and optimizing various mass spectrometry-based proteomics workflows;

  • Trained in basic raw data processing and downstream computational analyses of proteomics data.

Wat breng je mee?

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated research technician, ideally with a background in proteomics and/or mass spectrometry. Furthermore, successful candidates should bring a combination of the following:

  • Experience with sample preparation techniques for mass spectrometry;

  • Be familiar with operating mass spectrometers;

  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail;

  • The ability to work independently as well as part of a team;

  • Effective communication skills in English.

Your development opportunities and employment conditions

The basis for your employment conditions is in accordance with the CLA Hospitals. You will receive from us:

  • A year's contract for 36 hours per week, with the prospect of extension or a permanent contract;

  • A gross monthly salary between € 3.102,- and € 4.177,-, based on a 36-hour working week, in line with FWG45 and depending on your experience;

  • 144 holiday hours and 57 hours of Personal Life Budget, with full-time employment;

  • Annual holiday pay of 8.33% and a fixed end-of-year bonus of 8.33%;

  • A travel allowance of €0.23 per km;

  • Free parking at the Netherlands Cancer Institute. And with our bicycle plan and discount on public transport we also make it attractive for you to leave the car at home;
