Research Technician - ScreeninC - a national infrastructure for functional genome editing and large-scale screening

Jouw functie

The ScreeninC initiative, in part funded by KWF, is a national infrastructure for large scale functional genomic screening in the Netherlands. ScreeninC is composed of three “core” groups located at The Netherlands Cancer Institute (Dr. Roderick L Beijersbergen), the Leiden Academic Centre for Drug Research (LACDR) / Leiden University (Prof. Dr. Bob van de Water) and the European Research Institute for the Biology of Ageing (ERIBA)/ University Medical Center Groningen (Dr. Floris Foijer). Each of these core groups is directly linked to genome editing and screening infrastructures; The NKI Robotics and Screening Center, the Leiden Cell Observatory High Content Imaging Screening Facility and the iPSC/CRISPR center. The ScreeninC initiative provides expertise, tools, service and infrastructure for functional genomic technologies ranging from advanced model generation using CRISPR/CAS9 to large scale CRISPR screening. The three sites work closely together in the development and implementation of new technologies for genome editing and screening and providing support for CRISPR projects to research groups in the Netherlands.

You will become part of the ScreeninC team at the Netherlands Cancer Institute and work closely with the scientists located at NKI, Leiden and Groningen. Together with a scientist you will set-up, develop and optimize new CRISPR screening technologies. You will assist researchers that come to the ScreeninC infrastructure with the optimization and execution of large scale CRISPR screens. The work involves molecular biology techniques such as DNA cloning for libraries, viral based techniques, cell culture, PCR techniques and next generation sequencing.

Jouw profiel

Experience with CRISPR/CAS9 genome editing and cell culture is an advantage. While you are able to work independently, you are also a team player with the social and communication skills for effective interactions with collaborating researchers. The ideal candidate has a desire to work in collaborative projects with other researchers and research groups throughout the Netherlands. You should be fluent in spoken and written English and eager to join an international research environment.
